Of stone and archives, A history of the Moselle archives from 1802 to the present day.
The exhibition presented to the Moselle Departmental Archives tackles the history of the Archives building from 1802 to 2022.
The history of the archives is first confused with that of the prefecture building, which shelters the documents in its walls from 1806 to 1991. From this mixed story follows the transformation of the little Saulcy as we know it today, Mixture of pure buildings of lights and pastiches from the 20th century with confusing resemblance.
Then takes place the construction in record time of a new building between April 1990 (opening of the site) and September 1991 (inauguration of the building), With modern equipment adapted to new missions.
The history of the archives is finally written in the light of the new challenges encountered by the teams for the conservation of the fragile and sensitive written heritage.
