Temporary exhibition "Pierre-Alexandre Morlon (1878-1951), An art at the service of the Republic "

On the occasion of the centenary of the installation of two sculpted groups which decorate the city of Mâcon, The harvesting and the war memorial, Made by Pierre Alexandre Morlon, The Ursuline Museum devotes its first retrospective to this artist.

The exhibition will bring together more than 200 works, paintings, sculptures, Medals but also preparatory sketches and matrices, from public and private collections, gathered to evoke the diversity of his work.

Wishing to retrace the career of the sculptor and engraver exhaustively, The museum benefits from the support of two institutions retaining several specimens of its work: the Musée d'Orsay and the currency of

Paris have diversified funds related to the work of the sculptor and engraver in medals. Their participation in the project is made possible thanks to the expertise of François Blanchetière, Conservative Sculpture Architecture at the Musée d'Orsay, Sulf Béatrice, Responsible for the conservation of the currency of Paris and Dominique Anterion, Responsible for collections and the Mint of Paris.

Exceptional loans from Canada are made possible thanks to the partnership with the National Museum of Quebec.
