*Algorithmus tremens*

Sébastien Roux

Computer music, commented broadcast

Sébastien Roux is a champion of the algorithm. The apparent simplicity of its composition rules is matched only by the power of the effects they generate on the listener, in particular by the multiplication of simple basic data. His works have the art and how to reconcile a surgical invoice with a very sensual rendering. They are those that can listen to each other simultaneously in two ways: with an analytical ear, which decodes the processes and identifies the algorithms in action; and with a sensitive ear, who fully enjoys sounds over their emergence. The two complementary listenings remain eminently fun. His concert will take the form of a commented broadcast of a selection of his algorithmic compositions.

Morton Feldman

Three Voices (1982) for soprano and band

Morton Feldman's work, For a soprano accompanied by two pre -recorded tracks in this same voice, is a monument of vocal music at the end of the 20th century. The composer dedicated her to his friend and singer Joan La Barbara, who made the first recording. The writing makes different motifs appear successively, tirelessly scratched and repeated. The text, by Frank O’Hara, emerges at times, While many passages are based on notes sung without words. Juliet Fraser magnificently resumed the project and recorded a new version of it, Presented for the first time in Switzerland as part of the festival.
