Fascinating exhibition of the Geneva artist Daniel Garbade Lachenal to Geneva: a wink at the folk iconography of Switzerland and Spain. Just January 31, 2023 Garbade, Born in Switzerland and residing in Spain for over 30 years, merges mythology in this project, the history and iconography of the two countries, thus joining the work of ICAM to bring cultures closer through art and culture.

In this exhibition, Garbade makes a clear wink to his Swiss origins, Using the traditional silhouettes cut out of Scherenschnitte as reference. With this look, He continued the line he adopted two years ago, Based on Spanish folk iconography to describe contexts from current life. In this exhibition, The artist combines Swiss and Spanish folk iconography to describe the mosaic of his life, which is the fruit of these two cultures, thus obtaining a striking image, subtle and complex at the same time.

Garbade participated in the two previous exhibitions inspired by the Andalusian heritage in Spain: "Go down to the south: al-Andalus" to ICAM 2020 and "Baja Al on" at the very culturas Foundation del Mediterráneo in Seville in 2021 with the gallery Vesaniaart de Málaga,Spain.

Born in Zurich in 1957 and of Geneva origin, The artist began his career as an accessorist in the production of advertising films and feature film in Switzerland. He worked with Yves Boisset and Fred Zinnemann among others. Since the early 1980s he has been an independent artist painter, His works have been shown in Europe, South America, United States, South Correa and recently in India.

Sculptor, He is known for the Mikhail Bakounine plaque in the Bremgarten cemetery in Bern.
