PARADE

Gatherings-Crédits : Photo : Pierre Gondard

Surrealist ballet created in 1917 by Cocteau, Picasso, Satie and Massine for the Russian ballets, Parade is a repertoire work and an avant-garde room. With his dancers with "modified" bodies by the modernist scenography of Picasso, It moves away from the figurative logic of the historical arts. A century later, The choreographer Andrew Graham, The musician Martin Poncet, Plastic artist Mounir Ayache and the playwright Béatrice Pédraza design a parade open to all modern forms of expressions. On the scene, 17 dancers invent a world that would no longer leave people on the fringes, rethink disability situations, migration, genres and identities. Skin friction, sounds, of words, objects, nested, assembled ... human matter, beautiful and alive, is the essence of a new construction of the outbuildings, on references to the music hall, To Cabaret journals, at the circus and
queer ballrooms.

The opinion of the artistic director
This piece, In addition to offering a beautiful dance, associates professional dancers with interpreters with disabilities, and explores current questions about unconventional beauty, the self-indulgence and the ability of everyone to transform themselves. A great group work whose Marseille festival welcomed the creation in June 2022.
