Between 1952 and the year 2000, The destinies of the Ariana Museum and the ACA International Ceramics (AIC) ACA prove to be intimately linked. The approximately 520 contemporary ceramics reached at the Ariana museum over the years through AIC have followed different ways and obeyed very varied contexts.
Anxious to make Geneva the world capital of ceramics, Henri J. Reynaud undertakes from the outset to expand the ceramic collections of the Ariana museum by opening them to expressions other than European and historical. In 1960, its global cultural exchange
is the pretext for a first donation of 24 pieces under the artisanal or artistic repertoire. In 1964, Edgar Pelichet establishes a Reynaud Prize, Then AIC comes for almost ten years to reward in the form of a purchase for the Ariana museum the first prizes of the Vallauris Biennale and the International Contemporary Ceramics Competition in Faenza. In addition to these purchases, Many spontaneous donations made by AIC members themselves.
It's all these craftsmen, All these artists, All these past and current conservatives who have fueled this dream of a collection without aesthetic or geographic border, What is dedicated to this exhibition.
