Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui was already considering the young international star of contemporary dance after performances such as Foi and Zero Degrees (with Akram Khan). But when in 2008 Sutra (CCHA, 2010 & amp; 2018) premi & egrave; Re, he finally joined the ranks of the big theater makers. In 2010 he founded Eastman and followed performances such as Babel, Play (CCHA, 2015), 4D and Fractus V. Since 2015 he has also been artistic director Ballet Vlaanderen where he, among other things, Fall (CCHA, 2015), Exhibition and Requiem CRE & EUML ;  

Cherkaoui developed an impressive oeuvre in 25 years that in a personal and stubborn way examines and question the traditions of the great cultures. Recurring elements in his work are spirituality, being different, the search for identity, religion and the fascination for other cultures. His trademark is a generous, PO & EUML; Tisch -elegant and lyrical dance style.

In Nomad - The fourth piece by Cherkaoui on the Middle Eastern Gen & Iiuml; From a desert the stage. A metaphor for the ultimate freedom, but also for the inability to survive. & Nbsp;

nomad shows a mosa & ial; European Championship of living and lifeless elements from the desert. We get impressions of the fluidity and adaptability of beings that thrive in the most extreme circumstances. We see the desire for water, safety and consolation, that both animal actions and the human search for spirituality. And above all there is that spirit of togetherness, of friendship and symbiosis, the key to survival and evolution in a dry world that would be insurmountable without the support of another. The dancing nomads seem to be soloise in this area, just like the world today can be a desert for minority groups, a dangerous place to stay in.
