The 25ha castle park was designed and laid out in 1873 in an English landscape style. The intention of the clients, the Counts de Kerchove de Denterghem, was to have the park function as a showcase for the then still fledgling floriculture in Ghent. Today the domain is still in the hands of the same family. It is maintained all year round in function of the internationally renowned Garden Days of Beervelde that take place in mid-May and mid-October and is also very popular with young couples with wedding plans, looking for a fairytale setting.
