Dana Gavanski + Naima Bock

Concerts-Dana Gavanski + Naima Bock

Dana Gavanski
Serbian-Canadian singer-songwriter Dana Gavanski actually planned a career in filmmaking, but it ended up being music. Having previously shared the stage with greats such as Damien Jurado and Chris Cohen, she appeared in March 2020 – in full coronat time - her debut 'Yesterday Is Gone', a wonderful pop record with folky influences that can measure up to the work of Cate LeBon, Weyes Blood and Vashti Bunyan. Gavanski was ready to conquer the stages with her album in her pocket, but then the world closed down.
Due to the lack of concerts, Dana had to spend the past year and a half differently. She used that time to delve even more into the work of the artists who inspire her. The result is the EP ‘Wind Songs’, featuring five beautiful renditions of songs from her musical heroes, such as King Crimson and Ian McDonald. Songs capable of both generating a light breeze and unleashing a devastating storm. That's how we like them.
Naima Bock
Naima Bock moved from Sao Paulo to South London at the age of seven with her Brazilian father and Greek-English mother. At the age of 15, as Naima Jelly, she started the hotly-hyped indie rock band Goat Girl with friends, which she left in 2019 to pursue a different musical direction.
Under her solo name, Naima signed with the legendary record label SubPop. Her richly arranged and slightly freaky folk pop is a barrel full of influences that hark back to her youth. From a young age, Bock was exposed to a wide variety of music. Artists such as Baden Powell, Chico Buarque, Geraldo Vandre and Cartola were constantly played at home or during the long drives she took with her family to the beach. It gives Naima Bock's music an atmospheric nostalgic and southern palette, here and there finished with a dash of bossa. Her debut will be released later in 2022. Already to be discovered!
