Exhibition: Southern Land Travel

The year 2022 marks the 250th anniversary of the discovery by France, a few weeks apart, the Crozet and Kerguelen archipelagos. Since 1772, these territories at the end of the world have been the scene of extraordinary human adventures. Exploration trips, overexploitation of natural animal resources, attempted colonization, shipwreck, and international scientific expeditions have marked these lands and seas over the centuries. Today protected within the National Natural Reserve of French Southern Lands, raised by UNESCO to the rank of world heritage in humanity, these territories have become sanctuaries of world biodiversity and open -air laboratories dedicated to the Scientific research.

This anniversary exhibition is an opportunity to recall the major stages of the French presence in the lands and on the seas located between the roaring forties and the howling fiftieths, and to offer visitors to embark for a journey to the heart of the historical heritage and natural, but also contemporary issues of French southern lands.

Exhibition visible until September 30, 2022 every day from 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.; Then from October to March from 1:30 p.m. to 6.30 p.m. (except Tuesday). Annual closure in January.
