Long held at a distance, the Alps became, from the first expeditions of the end of the 18th century, the subject of study but also full -fledged pictorial subject. This exhibition pays tribute to the artists whose approaches vary according to personalities and eras, constantly orienting our perception of the mountain. Shed in all directions, sometimes immutable and almost eternal, sometimes fragile and threatened, it is shown in different perspectives. It turns out to be vertiginous or peaceful, sometimes surprising, always moving. Iconic or unexpected works, paintings, engravings, photographs, videos and exposed objects question its wild character or on the contrary domesticated and, in the current context which places climatic questions at the center of the public debate, question its indestructible nature. p>
